Don’t Be Decieved By Popular Objects

You might be standing on the sea coastline

Or on the top of the mountain

Looking down at the horizon

The skies looking clear

Blue skies, blue Caribbean sea

You might see a large ocean liner

Sailing on the waters

That ship might attract you

You might be looking at its movements

As the sea water’s glitters

And smoke coming’ from the ship’s chimney

Making its way up into the open skies

The breeze might not be blowing

As the smoke from the Ocean liner chimney

Goes up straight in the skies

Like Abel’s sacrifice commanded by God.

You might put on your binoculars

To scope the large ship closer

All you might be seeing is an open ocean

Blue sea, bright sunshine, a lovely day

You might take out your camera

And snap a few photo shots

To keep as a memories-souvenirs

As the large ocean liner sails away

Before it disappears behind the horizon

You might love what you are seeing

It is attractive and beautiful to you

But you don’t know what is under the ocean water

You are looking at the main object, the ship

But when you go home tonight

Don’t be surprised if you hear

From your neighbours and people on the street saying

There is a submarine under the surface of the ocean

With its torpedoes guarding the ship.

The great Fela Kuti sang the song, “Zombie”

Fela Kuti also sang, “Water Don’t Have Enemy.”

I hope you are aware that to survive, we need water

Because water doesn’t have an enemy

But please remember!

You saw a large ship liner sailing quietly on open seas

But you didn’t see the submarine that guarding the ship.
